Diary of Uncertainty

Since Childhood Brushes & Needles have always made me curious about the unknown or places in my areas of interest, I am uncertain about. I always thought about whether the hand-made art in the villages by poor artisans can be taken to a global platform or not?

Bridge Development Between Indian Artisans & Film / Fashion Industry

The Handloom Textiles constitute a timeless facet of the rich cultural heritage of India, But the Artisans do not get enough recognition, money, and fame in return. Also, the pandemic has clouded their future.

How can the Awareness, Education & Technology help in building a Digital Bridge in between Indian Artisans & Fashion/ Film Industry to work globally without intermediaries.

What is the area, discipline, professional arena or other context in which you would like to introduce change?

Fashion & Films ( Products / Apparel – design & sourcing )

Who are your stakeholders?

Film Professionals / Fashion Professionals / Artisans

Delphi Survey Technique / Qualitative Analysis

The systematic method of formal questionnaire interrogation using intuitive judgment / interactive forecasting and knowledge of a panel. Usually considered where data is missing or incomplete.

What is the change you plan to introduce?

This Digital Bridge will change the existing process of product design & sourcing directly from

Artisans without intermediaries in the field of fashion & films. Better Wages, Empowerment & Awareness ( education, rights, schemes ) among poor artisans.

Critical Reflection

My assumption about the situation of Indian Artisans is that the globalization has helped them in evolving but there are the challenges like awareness , lack of education & IPR laws they are unaware about.

While talking to people for handloom & fashion Industry clearly states that the Artisans are still facing the issues like corruption and labour exploitation, to the copying of designs .

Artists registration with IACB (The Indian Arts and Crafts Board ) will authorize and establish a government trademark of genuineness.
